Hineuru response to COVID19 – Week 1

Tena tatou,
Hineuru Iwi Trust met this morning in a zui about our work responding to COVID19.

Kua pa mai te ringa aitua ki a Hineuru. One of our own tribal members Janet Lieben passed away on 31 March 2020 from COVD19. Resident in Australia, Janet and her husband Jerry were aboard the Ruby Princess Cruise Ship when they both contracted the virus. We learnt about this during our phone contact with pakeke in the last week. Janet is a Utiera from Te Haroto. E kui moe mai ra ki o matua tipuna.

Attached is an infographic that we wanted to share with you all setting out how we are responding to the unprecedented impact of COVID19. Next week we will continue looking at how we can facilitate support for whanau in need (kuru pounamu). Be on the lookout for a survey that we will distribute to you all on this.

Whanau we must be vigilant about staying home in our bubbles. If we want to protect our whanau, protect our whakapapa and save lives we need to all stay home. We will get through this. Further communications and updates will be forthcoming. Have a restful weekend!

Ma te Atua tatou e manaaki e tieki,

Renata Bush
